Gearbox to Release Duke Nukem Forever In 2011

Yes, hell has finally frozen over.  Earlier today at the PAX Prime in Seattle, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford confirmed that Duke Nukem Forever has completed its development stage.  On top of that good news, Pitchford announced that the title will be released in 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Duke Nukem Forever had been in development since 1997 and continued to be in “development hell” after the problems that lied within Duke’s former development company 3D Realms.  Pitchford stated in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that Gearbox took over development of the game back in 2009 during the lawsuit between 3D Realms and Take Two Interactive.  Gamers who stop by the PAX Convention  will be able to tryout the anticipated title courtesy of Gearbox.

It’s 3D Realms btw. gearbox screwed borderlands up, so hard to know whether they’ll get this right. But I dislike this news and don’t understand why people are so excited. I mean the previous version hardly set the world alight. One of my mates claimed that DNF was Chris Morris to Doom’s Michael Burke, but I feel that’s giving 3D Realms and Duke too much credit. I’m all for humour in games, but only if it’s well done and it wasn’t that well done previously. I dunno, the ingame footage look good, but after 13 years it’d need to be a mind blowing game to deserve anything other than my contempt.

    I’m in favor.

That’s all I’m going to say.
